A remake of a film from the fifties, The Fly is a perfect monster movie, a perfect science-fiction film and a perfect love story. Seth Brundle, the leading character played by an unforgettable Jeff Goldblum, is an ambitious scientist who is working on the creation of a teleportation machine. One night, despite knowing the risks, he decides to teleport himself, not realizing that a housefly has got into the machine. Thereafter, he starts to experience all kinds of changes (in energy, in his body, in mood), some immediately and others—the most terrible—progressively.

A masterly exercise in body horror by David Cronenberg, an expert in the field, The Fly is not just about beauty. It explores an infinite number of issues: the limits of humankind’s relationship with technology, identity put to the test, the complexity of romantic relationships. One of them, closely related to the idea of ​​beauty, is the fear of irreversible bodily changes, not recognizing oneself and physical degradation. In a film with a sense of fantasy and extraordinary special makeup effects, the director of Dead Ringers (1988) brings all these issues together around one of the most beautiful love stories ever told: that of Brundle and the journalist Veronica Quaife (Geena Davis), who helplessly witnesses as her beloved disintegrates.

The film will be screened in original version and subtitled in Catalan.
