Film Still from "The Fence" directed by Claire Denis (France, 2025).
The foreman of a large construction project in Nigeria receives an unexpected visit in the dead of night. It is a man claiming the body of his brother, who died on the construction site that very day. Like a specter in the darkness, he hounds the two men all night long until they return his brother's body.
The action is set over the course of a few hours, during which, through a tense, nocturnal confrontation, director Claire Denis revisits, like phantasmagoria, one of her major themes: the consequences of Western colonialism in Africa. Adapted from a play by Bernard-Marie Koltès.
Film will be screened in original version with Spanish subtitles.
A film in the 2026 edition of D'A Film Festival.
