Husbands and Wives

Local director Àlex Rigola’s brings a stage adaptation of Woody Allen’s BAFTA award-winning film Husbands and Wives (1992) to the Teatre-Auditori Sant Cugat in a comedy that combines truthful drama with rueful humour to examine the requirements and complexities of modern-day relationships. In Marits i Mullers, being performed on February 5th, protagonists Andreu and Monica are left dumbstruck upon the discovery that their best friends Joan and Sandra are separating, leading them to question the stability of their own relationship.
Rigola holds a degree from the Escola Superior d’Art Dramàtic of Barcelona, and previous directorial credits include William Shakespeare’s Richard III (2005), Peter Morgan’s Frost/Nixon (2009) and Tennessee Williams’s Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (2010). He served as Artistic Director at the Teatre Lliure between 2003 and 2011, and recently completed a five-year stint as theatre director of the Italian arts organisation Venice Biennale.
