Film still from "Sumé: The Sound of a Revolution" directed by Inuk Silis Høegh (Greenland, 2014).
Between 1973 and 1976, the Greenlandic rock band Sumé released three albums and changed the course of Greenland's history. The band's political songs were the first to be recorded in Greenlandic (Kalaallisut)—a language that, prior to Sumé, lacked words to express concepts such as "revolution" or "oppression." After 250 years of Danish colonization, Sumé sparked a revival of Greenlandic culture and identity and paved the way for Greenland's self-government.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Catalan.
A film in the 2026 edition of IndiFest, Barcelona Indigenous Film Festival.
