This summer, the CCCB’s offers four outdoor screenings in the framework of the exhibition Suburbia. Building the American Dream. A cycle curated by Philipp Engel, curator of the exhibition, and Jordi Costa, head of exhibitions at CCCB.
The idyllic landscape of single-family homes surrounded by lawns, with their flowers and white fences, is never innocent; it always hides something more. In cinema, we've seen how the friendly suburbia of the 1950s mutated into darker versions of the American dream, giving rise to complex and fascinating interpretations.
Screenings will take place in the Pati de les Dones. Doors open at 21:00, screenings begin at 22:00. Films will be shown in original version.
- July 30, Hello Dankness, Soda Jerk (Australia, 2022) and The Instability of Clouds, Zazie Ray-Trapido (United States, 2024)
- August 1, Las verdes praderas, José Luis Garci (Spain, 1979)
- August 6, Suburbia, Penelope Spheeris (United States, 1983)
- August 8, The Myth of the American Sleepover, David Robert Mitchell (United States, 2010)
