Train to Skaville is pleased to announce Stranger Cole for the first time in Barcelona. This Jamaican legend made his debut as a singer in 1962 and this November he arrives accompanied by The Jeggaes and Memi Sillah, musicians from Spain who will delight us with a memorial to Phyllis Dillon.
Stranger Cole was born in Kingston in 1942 and from a young age he was called “Stranger,” because he did not resemble any member of his family. His first success was as a composer of “In And Out The Window,” which was a hit for “Monty” Morris. This allowed him to compose his first album in 1962, achieving instant success with songs such as “Rough And Tough” and “When You Call My Name” (a duet with Patsy Todd) and produced by Arthur “Duke” Reid of Treasure Isle. This success was followed by a few singles in the mid-1960s with Duke Reid, and almost simultaneously he began working with the great Clement “Coxsone” Dood and Prince Buster. He continues to wow audiences decades later.
The doors open at 20:00, and dinner is available while Sound System FM provides the soundtrack. After the concert ends, the party continues until 6:00 with guest selectors. First up is Mr. Buddy Records from L’Hospitalet, followed by reggae from Helena Fabregas, then Claire Retro Girl, resident and founder of the Rhythm and Blues club Destination 2165. To close the night, there will be a celebration for the 14th anniversary of M&M Sound. It's a night packed with great tunes!
