The Force arrives in Barcelona with Star Wars: A New Hope, in Concert, a spectacular production that combines cinema and live symphonic music as part of the Gran Simfònic series, an initiative by the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès.
Since its premiere over forty-five years ago, Star Wars has transformed the history of cinema and popular culture, captivating generations with its epic storytelling, unforgettable characters and iconic music that has become part of our collective imagination. Now, fans can relive the magic of this beloved classic in an immersive symphonic experience that merges the grandeur of film with the power of a live orchestra. In this first episode of the saga, young Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) begins his heroic journey when, searching for a lost droid on the desert planet Tatooine, he meets Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness). Together with daring pilot Han Solo (Harrison Ford), courageous Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and the iconic droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, Luke embarks on a daring mission to defeat the evil Galactic Empire and destroy its ultimate weapon: the Death Star.
The legendary John Williams, composer of all nine Star Wars scores, won the Oscar for this first installment, establishing a musical legacy that continues to inspire audiences and musicians around the world.
This production is presented under the official license of Disney Concerts and forms part of the Gran Simfònic series, which this December brings major symphonic and film productions to Barcelona—a project through which the Palau and the OSV aim to bring live music to new audiences, offering collective and accessible experiences for all ages.
