Bach's St. Matthew Passion is widely regarded as one of the most important compositions in the history of music. It premiered on Good Friday in 1727, and has since continued to impress generations of all backgrounds thanks to its powerful combination of music and text. It’s complex, cathartic, and moving, regardless of one’s religious beliefs.
Every year, the work returns to the Palau de la Música, this time with the RIAS Kammerchor and the AKAMUS ensemble — both from Berlin, and conducted by Justin Doyle.
