Maria is a promising young writer and new mother whose days are marked by exhaustion and the anguish of not feeling up to the task of motherhood. While struggling to adapt to her new baby's constant demands, she stumbles upon the news of a terrifying event: a French woman has drowned her 10-month-old twins in the bathtub. The gruesome act seizes Maria's imagination, becoming an obsession. Why did she do it? From that moment on, the specter of infanticide looms over Maria's life as a haunting possibility. 

Based on the novel Las madres no, by Katixa Agirre, director Mar Coll looks into the dark abyss that the experience of puerperal motherhood can mean, taking it to a disturbing territory that plays with the codes of dramatic thriller and horror. "In my film, I explore the troubling figure of the regretful mother. Trapped in relentless guilt and social misunderstanding, she faces the fear of her own monstrous condition, through a chilling tale unleashed by her imagination."—Mar Col.

Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in English.

Timing

Screenings will begin at sunset sometime between 21:30 and 22:00, which will vary depending on the date. All sessions are free of charge. You should plan to arrive early and enjoy the music as you settle into your place. Keep in mind that food and chairs will not be provided, so make sure to pack something tasty and a blanket for a lovely beach picnic under the stars. You are encouraged to arrive early for a good seat close to the screen!
