This year, L’Auditori concludes its focus that started in the 2017-2018 season on Franz Schubert’s lieder, one of the most extensive and highest quality corpora of songs in the classic and romantic repertoire. Schubert's music has provided the perfect opportunity to discover the voices of some young national and international talents who represent the future of the genre. Schubert Lied is organised by L'Auditori de Barcelona in co-production with the Franz Schubert Association and the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (National Centre for the Dissemination of Music).
The first concert dedicated to Schubert's lieder will be performed by the young German soprano Katharina Konradi, winner of the 2016 edition of the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb music competition, who has featured regularly in German opera companies since 2015. Katharina Konradi is the great discovery of recent years in the realm of lieder singing. Her triumphant debut at Schubertiada Vilabertran 2018 earned her a return invite for the next three editions. In the coming seasons, she will be collaborating with conductors such as Gergiev, Thielemann, Eschenbach, Blomstedt and Hengelbrock. She debuts at the Bayreuth Festival in 2019 and has already been invited to the 2020 and 2021 editions. The soprano performs at L’Auditori accompanied by seasoned pianist Eric Schneider, who is a regular on stages all over the world with singers of such standing as Matthias Goerne and Christine Schäfer.
