School Preregistration 2026-2027: What Do You Need to Know?

The preregistration period for the 2026-2027 school year in Barcelona’s local education system runs from March 4th to 18th. Preregistration is a key step to securing a spot for your child in one of the more than 400 schools within the Barcelona education network, which includes publicly funded schools: state schools and state-subsidized private schools (escoles concertades).

To guide you through the preregistration and enrollment process, Barcelona International Welcome invites you to join an online information session hosted by Cristina Iglesia, a school advisor from the Barcelona Education Consortium.

During the session, you will be walked through the process of filling out and submitting a preregistration application, explaining the criteria used for school placements. The session will also include a Q&A segment to address any questions or uncertainties you might have.

All details about the preregistration process, as well as the schedule for school open days, can be found on the Barcelona Education Consortium website. Visiting schools in person during their open days is highly recommended to help you make an informed decision that best suits your family’s needs.
