Palau Robert Passeig de Gràcia 107, 08008 Barcelona
Through the lens of photographer Xavier Mercadé (Barcelona, 1967), we relive historic concerts by artists such as The Pets, Love of Lesbian, Sidonie and Sopa de Cabra, as well as international stars like Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, The Who, Pearl Jam and Roger Waters. The most representative images are accompanied by a text describing the story behind each concert by Mercadé himself.
Rock Viu not only reflects the evolution of the history of music, but is also a recognition of the work of Mercadé, who is one of the most renowned live photography professionals in the country. He has published five books, and has been the head of photography for the Enderrock Group's magazines for over 25 years, and is affectionately known by his colleagues as “The Man Who is Always There” for his omnipresence at musical events around Catalunya.
Viewers can also access a parallel exhibition of Rock Viu in virtual format, in which a new archive image is published every day, also accompanied by texts by the photographer. The virtual version of the exhibition will end on the day of the final day of the Palau Robert exhibition in Barcelona.
