Robot Dreams, Pablo Berger (Spain, France, 2023)
Spanish director and screenwriter Pablo Berger (Snow White) adapts Sara Varon's graphic novel in this tender story, as simple as it is deep, that earned him an Oscar nomination for the best animated film.
Winner of the Goya for the best adapted script and the best animated film, Robots Dreams narrates the strange friendship that arises between a lone dog who spends his days in front of the TV and the robot he buys to keep him company—until, due to circumstances of life, they are forced to live without each other.
As Berger explains, this film without dialogue "is a reflection on friendship, about the passage of time, about loss, but also about overcoming. I want to captivate the viewer, from the youngest to the oldest, from here and from there, telling a story full of fantasy, but as real as life itself: a different film for a broad audience."
