Image from series "Riot Women," directed by Sally Wainwright (UK, 2025).
A teacher, a police officer, a pub landlady, a midwife and a shoplifting freeloader: five menopausal women form a punk rock band to take part in a local talent contest, and suddenly find they have a lot more to shout about than they ever imagined. As they become closer, the teacher, Beth, and freeloader, Kitty, discover a surprising, heartbreaking connection.
Riot Women is the new series from the brilliant creator Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley), one of the most important names in current British drama. Starring renowned British actresses such as Tamsin Greig, Joanna Scanlan, and Rosalie Craig, the series is one of Wainwright’s most personal works. A story about the feeling of changing or becoming a different kind of person, and everything that comes with it.
The session will include a screening of the first two episodes (in original version with Catalan subtitles), with the presence of Roger Salvans (editor-in-chief of Fotogramas) in conversation with its creator, Sally Wainwright.
A screening in the 2025 edition of Serielizados Fest.
