See this extraordinary exhibition on Rembrandt’s activities as a portraitist, a genre in which he reached the highest level. See 39 of his portraits alongside major examples by his contemporaries in Amsterdam during the Dutch Golden Age. In total there are 80 paintings and 16 prints and an etching plate. Some of these works have never previously been displayed in Europe.
Curated by Norbert E. Middelkoop, curator at the Amsterdam Museum, the exhibition reveals the variety and quality of these works and will present the stories behind the sitters in them: married couples, craftsmen at work, children, scholars, businessmen, the artists themselves and important group portraits. Take a virtual tour at this temporary exhibition!
