Marc Almond

With over 30 million record sales under his belt, Marc Almond is a singer-songwriter who is widely considered an icon within the new wave genre. Having begun his music career in 1978 with synthpop duo Soft Cell, Almond rose to fame three years later with the release of ‘Tainted Love’, a single that reached number one in 17 countries, and has remained popular through the years, featuring in the soundtracks of critically-acclaimed films This Is England (2006) and Pride (2014). Despite the duo disbanding in 1984, Almond has gone on to enjoy much success since embarking on a solo career.
Now, at 58 years old, Almond remains as determined as ever to cement his status as an international artist. Last year, he toured alongside David Bowie tribute band Holy Holy, as well as regularly guesting on the Jools Holland tour, which saw him perform in Istanbul. As part of his latest tour, which has recently taken him across Britain, Russia and Croatia, Almond comes to Razzmatazz on February 13th to promote his new album The Velvet Trail (2015), which includes song titles ‘Scar’ and ‘Demon Lover’. Don’t miss out on your chance to experience the big choruses and melodies with an artist whose voice, according to The Guardian, “is still enthralling”.
