A quintet from South Carolina, USA that interprets, in an innovative and contemporary way, the deep-rooted musical traditions of the African-American Gullah culture, which was born on the coastal plain and the Sea Islands of the southeastern the United States.
From spiritual songs that reach the heart, to ecstatic shouts and delicate lullabies, Ranky Tanky reveals to the world one of the primary origins of American music present in its communities and family legacies.
