Is there anything better than celebrating Christmas with a session led by the singer Randy Greer with pianist Ignasi Terraza’s trio? There is perhaps nothing that helps resist the excesses of these important dates like a concert of Christmas pieces with swing rhythm, performed by a velvety voice and an elegant, precise piano. Altogether the antithesis of the friction drums traditionally played in Spain at this time of year to accompany festive singing. And that shouldn’t be surprising: Greer, an American crooner who has been living in our city since 1993, and Terraza, possibly the top swing player in the country, know how to wrap all the emotions associated with this time of year in a shiny jazz parcel. Joy, optimism, and rage in a repertoire that will help us cope with the traditional Christmas fare.
