Punch Trio was born from a provocative idea: What if Django Reinhardt hadn’t died in 1953? What if he’d been knocked out by the spirit of hard bop just beginning to rise at that time? This project takes that daring question and runs with it, blending manouche swing with the vocabulary and punch of modern jazz, all from the heart of the string section.

“Jazz against the strings” is both their motto and their musical arena—where guitar-led improvisation pushes boundaries and rewrites the rules. To take it to the next level, they join forces with a very special guest: acclaimed Australian musician Adrian Cunningham (flute and clarinet), who brings extra fire and finesse to this thrilling sonic bout.
