Recognized by Bass Player Magazine as one of the greats of the bass, Petros Klampanis is a musician known for his ability to merge musical traditions with a contemporary vision. Raised in Greece, immersed in the rich traditions of Mediterranean and Balkan folk, he has built an international career that keeps him moving between Athens and New York.
Since 2011, Klampanis has released six albums as a bandleader, earning praise for both his performance and composition. His latest project, Tora Collective, blends jazz and Greek folk music, featuring both traditional songs and original compositions. The project has been widely acclaimed by critics. Additionally, Klampanis serves as the musical director for Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Arooj Aftab, with whom he co-arranged her latest album, Night Reign.
With Latent Info, his newest album, Klampanis takes his music to a new level. Recorded entirely with all three musicians playing together in the same room, the project explores the concept of "latent information" — the subtle, uncharted nuances that emerge during the recording process. The album celebrates unspoken emotions, unsaid words, and the nuances that shape our world, offering a direct and honest approach that connects listeners to the unseen.
