The Same Difference is an invitation to undo the forms through which we name ourselves, in order to move closer, through the body, to that which moves us, fractures us, and binds us together. In his first choreographic creation without performing himself, Pau Aran imagines the stage as a space for listening, questioning, and possible reconciliation. In dialogue with the thought and accompaniment of Miquel Missé, the piece shifts the focus from identities toward the root of the discomforts that run through bodies and lives. In a time marked by exhaustion, precarity, and polarization, The Same Difference seeks in dance a way to bring us together, to hold difference, and to sense, collectively, other ways of inhabiting the world.
Born in Barcelona in 1981, Pau Aran Gimeno is a dancer and choreographer based in Germany and Spain. Trained in multiple dance disciplines, he joined Tanztheater Wuppertal – Pina Bausch in 2005, where he danced for fifteen years in more than twenty-five works and contributed to preserving Pina Bausch’s legacy. His work is a quest for an honest and essentially human form of expression. Since 2013 he has worked as an independent choreographer, with internationally presented pieces and collaborations with artists such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Theo Clinkard and Antonio Ruz. His most notable works include Lettre d’amour (2020), Un cadavre exquis II (2021–2022), Seeking the Truth (2023) and Myco (2026).
Performance will be in English, Spanish and French with Catalan subtitles.
