'Paral·lel Avenue 1894-1939', currently on exhibit at the CCCB gallery, offers an extensive and eye-opening look into the rich history and culture of the Barcelona neighborhood.
The exhibition details how a new geographical area of entertainment emerged, as well as the social transformations and the progression in trends of stage performance. The theme of sex and the profound change in public perception and the break away from traditional morals and ideologies are explored.
During this 'golden-age', Parallel, theatres were the meeting place for writers, actors, intellectuals, republicans, socialists and anarchists. The exhibition is made up of an extensive collection of photographs, video clips, posters, letters and scripts.
