Out of Frame. Works by Rineke Dijkstra and Philippe Parreno
to
CaixaForum Barcelona Av. de Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia 6-8, 08038 Barcelona

Recently, la Caixa Foundation has acquired two audiovisuals for its Contemporary Art Collection that allow an unprecedented approach to Goya's black paintings and Rembrandt's The Night Watch. Their joint exhibition responds to a look at the art of the past based on the interaction with the public. Night Watching, by Rineke Dijkstra, is a video installation that records the comments of different people as they observe Rembrandt's work, without us ever getting to see it. There are those who link this painting with their own life or examine it in the historical context of art. On the other hand, the immersive film La quinta del sordo, by Philippe Parreno, takes us to the house in which Goya created his black paintings, recreating a space that no longer exists.
