The recent publication of books and essays on George Orwell clearly show that interest in his work is as keen as ever. Participants in this panel discussion will talk about the relevance of Orwell’s legacy and the need to pass it onto future generations.
Eighty years after his stay in Barcelona, George Orwell and his work continue to interest people. Young local journalists and researchers highlight his present-day significance in both literary and political terms as well as stressing the need to bring his work to younger readers.
Moderated by Albert Lladó, this panel discussion, will include Andrea Lucio and Jordi de Miguel, authors of the illustrated version of Homenatge a Catalunya (Homage to Catalonia, Debate, 2019), and Oriol Quintana, author of the essay Vostè i George Orwell. Along with Sobre l’humanisme orwellià i la condició de l’home corrent (You and George Orwell. On the Orwellian Humanism and the Condition of the Ordinary Man, Viena Edicions, 2019 was awarded the 26th Joan Maragall Prize.
