This concert brings together two works united by the evocative power of music and its narrative strength: Cello Concerto “Never Give Up” by Fazıl Say and Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
Pianist, composer and human rights activist Fazıl Say is one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary classical music. His Cello Concerto “Never Give Up” is a tribute to personal and collective resilience—a piece that captures the spirit of resistance in the face of injustice and repression.
The second part of the concert is dedicated to Scheherazade, the brilliant symphonic suite Rimsky-Korsakov composed in 1888, inspired by the tales of One Thousand and One Nights. The work represents the power of words and music through the character of Scheherazade, who manages to save her life thanks to the strength of the stories she tells night after night.
