On Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd in December, Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos and his company Leon and Wolf Dance Company are set to premiere their opus show in Spain in Hiroshima Hall, in collaboration with the Mercat de les Flors and the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya). Opus is a piece for four performers and four musicians, which starts from the study of the strict structure and artistic complexity of classical musical compositions, which are brought to the stage in a visual way. The central norms of instrumental music are applied in a different form of art: dance. The body becomes a visual version of the musical instrument, and the score becomes the choreography itself. Each body in the scene is concerned with following the rhythm or the melodic lines; sometimes it focuses on a single musical instrument and sometimes on two, focusing the attention of the viewer on the wonderful architecture of classical music and its harmonic logic. The result is a piece of great sobriety and beauty and an intelligent attempt to discover our automatic physical response to musical impulses. Christos Papadopoulos studied dance and choreography at SNDO (School for New Dance Development). Since 2013 he has collaborated with the Odeion Athinon Theater Academy as an instructor of choreography, composition and improvisation.
