In a way, O’Flynn’s career has been defined by what others have done with his music. In 2015, James Blake played one of his first singles, Oberyn, on BBC Radio 1. That same year, Four Tet also gave him his blessing by playing Tyrion during a session for Boiler Room. In 2019, Bonobo included TKOTN in his mix for the prestigious Fabric series. For a decade, the London-based producer’s emotional house music has been something of a secret weapon in the repertoires of other DJs including Ben UFO and Floating Points.
You do not have to look far to see its appeal: it is easy to imagine a big festival moving to the beat of some of his most recent singles, such as Srekye and its trademark tribal percussion. Yet as O’Flynn’s productions have many facets, he is now preparing for a promotional tour that will not only target the dance floor but also assert him as a composer.
