The New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, a powerhouse of musicians with a rich history of electrifying performances, has been captivating audiences for over two decades. Born from the fusion of classic instrumental ska and modern jazz, NYSJE has become synonymous with ska music, performing at prestigious events worldwide. Led by Freddie Rocksteady Reiter, they continue to uphold their signature blend of jazz standards with Jamaican influences, alongside covers and original compositions. With over 15 albums and a stellar live show, they are a surefire hit for reggae, ska, and black music enthusiasts alike.
Adding to the excitement, the event will feature a special guest artist: Drop Collective. Hailing from Barcelona, this ensemble of 10 musicians has been blending jazz and Jamaican rhythms since 2016. Their unique sound, characterized by a dynamic wind section and heartfelt lyrics, has earned acclaim at renowned festivals like Rototom Sunsplash and the Barcelona International Jazz Festival. Drawing inspiration from legends like Toots & the Maytals and The Skatalites, their debut album Stormin' (2018) received praise, and they are currently working on their highly anticipated third album. With original compositions, jazz standards and even some lyrics in Catalan, Drop Collective is poised to embark on a new chapter of artistic evolution.
