Mythologies, Graphic Work in the Collection of the Museum
Museu Picasso Montcada 15-23, 08003 Barcelona

Picasso was always inspired by mythologies, evident in the scenes and characters adapted from the Greco-Roman mythology within his work. His graphic works surround heroes such as Hercules, Apollo, Zeus, Poseidon and many more, using them to explain truths about everyday life in the form of love, war, tragedy and so on. He used a variety of techniques to create these pieces, such as etching, lithography and aquatint, and employed the use of different mediums like stone, copper plate and zinc. The unusual collection arguably demonstrates a different side to Picasso’s work, fusing together history and narration to depict myths.
