Some names need no introduction because their influence is written into the very DNA of pop music. Morrissey, the legendary founder of The Smiths and one of the most brilliant lyricists in history, will close the 2026 edition of the BARTS Festival at Poble Espanyol in grand style.
With a career spanning four decades and 25 albums in the British Top 10, Morrissey returns to Barcelona after a decade to present his highly anticipated new work, Make-up Is a Lie. Recorded in France, this album champions music as "the ultimate democracy," without limits or categories.
The anthems that changed the course of indie pop—from the melancholy of The Smiths to his solo achievements—will resonate on a historic closing night. Seeing Morrissey is like experiencing another celestial musical event; a closing act worthy of a festival that celebrates the personality and indomitable spirit of great artists.
