Feng Xia, a 53-year-old married Chinese immigrant and mother, lives in Montreal. She has lived a life shaped by duty: towards family, towards culture and towards a loveless marriage. However, when she meets Camille, a young Quebecker full of energy, a long-suppressed desire awakens in her. In the warm and cheerful summer of Montreal, Feng Xia takes a radical step, that of choosing herself. She embarks on a journey of forbidden love and long-awaited self-discovery. Her awakening becomes a revenge with identity, exile and the high cost of liberation.

Drawing on her own experience as an immigrant, legendary actress Joan Chen delivers a surprising and complex performance in the role of Feng Xia, marking one of the boldest turns of her acclaimed career. Montréal, ma belle represents a milestone in queer cinema from the Asian diaspora: it is the first fiction feature film centered on a Chinese protagonist eager to finally live out her lesbian identity.

Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish and Catalan.
