This fall, renowned flamenco artist Miguel Poveda will grace the stage at the Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival, bringing with him a new and deeply significant project. Accompanied by guitarist Jesús Guerrero, Poveda will perform pieces from his latest album, Poema del cante jondo. This album explores the profound poetry of Federico García Lorca, capturing the essence of flamenco through a "lyrical distillation" of Lorca's work.

Poveda, a Badalona native, has described this project as "an intimate encounter with the roots of flamenco," showcasing his dedication to preserving and interpreting the emotional depth of Lorca’s poetry. Promotional materials suggest that this album presents "the most traditional Miguel yet," emphasizing his deep connection to the flamenco tradition.

Last year, Poveda provided a glimpse of this project during a performance at the Fòrum, but this year's presentation at the Jazz Festival marks a full-fledged debut of the album. The festival performance is poised to become a defining moment in Poveda’s career, offering a rich exploration of Lorca's influence on the character and traditions of flamenco music.
