Martin Margiela: In His Own Words, Reiner Holzemer (2019)
Few designers evoke an imaginary world as rich, deep, and emotionally compelling as that of the Belgian Martin Margiela. One of the most revolutionary and influential fashion designers of his time, Margiela has remained an elusive figure the entirety of his decades-long career. He debuted in Paris in 1988, and the rest is history: from Jean Paul Gaultier’s assistant to creative director at Hermès to leading his own House, Margiela never showed his face publicly and avoided interviews, but reinvented fashion with his radical style through forty-one provocative collections. “My designs will speak for me,” he declared, and he stopped giving interviews.
Now, for the first time, the “Banksy of fashion” reveals his drawings, notes, and personal items in this exclusive, intimate profile of his vision. This poetic documentary celebrates one of fashion’s most radical and anti-commercial voices, with ingenious proposals that still feel modern today. It also affirms that creation—fragile and capricious—has its own sacred timing, and that singularity needs to be protected.
A Tabi Film, Yuri Ancarani (2025)
Since the program of the 10th edition if Moritz Feed Dog includes Martin Margiela: In His Own Words as part of the retrospective dedicated to Reiner Holzemer, the festival complements the exploration of Margiela’s universe with this short film by the maison, focused on the iconic Tabi shoes—elevated to the status of moving sculpture and present since the designer’s earliest collections. With a toe inspired by traditional Japanese socks, this design (which never fails to provoke a reaction) crystallizes the Belgian’s conceptual approach: symbols, deconstruction, rituals. The film showcases the process of crafting these iconic and collectible tabis, carried out by the house’s artisans.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish (March 19th) and Catalan (March 21st) .
A film in the 2026 edition of Moritz Feed Dog.
