There is no orchestra in the world like Maria Schneider's. No one in the universe creates music as beautiful and moving as that of the composer from Windom, Minnesota, whose career the festival has followed with unwavering dedication and perpetual admiration.
For Schneider, working with orchestras other than her own has never been easy—until Clasijazz and Pablo Mazuecos arrived from Almería, bringing together an all-star lineup of Iberian jazz musicians, and absolute magic was born. Following their concert at the festival two years ago, Schneider has once again taken the Clasijazz Big Band under her wing for a tour that will take them to major European summer festivals and will conclude in Barcelona, at the artists' express request. Under the title Bulería, Soleá y Rumba (one of the composer's signature pieces), the tour reunites Schneider with the Clasijazz Big Band, with the addition of a very special guest, another unbridled talent: the saxophonist and flamenco singer Antonio Lizana.
