Jamboree Jazz Club Plaça Reial 17, 08002 Barcelona

Marcelo Mercadante composition, arrangements, concertina, Juan Esteban Cuacci piano, Analía Carril vocals, Olvido Lanza violin, Javier Feirstein electric guitar, Emiliano Roca double bass.
The concertina player Marcelo Mercadante is not, as Gardel put it “anchored in Paris”. Instead, he has been in Barcelona for almost three decades, working with all kinds of artists, from the sadly missed Pepe Rubianes and Elba Picó, to Miguel Poveda, Raynald Colom, Joan Manuel Serrat, Pablo Mainetti and Gustavo Battaglia, among others. He says he has spent half his life “among cured hams and Catalan custard”, but he has never lost his connection with his roots. As a composer, he has looked to the legacy of the greats of South American culture: Anibal Troilo, Leopoldo Federico and Astor Piazzola. His music is extraordinary as he evokes like no other the spirit of the tango, the memory of San Lorenzo de Almagro, Buenos Aires cuisine and his deep friendship with the writer Pablo Marchetti, author of the lyrics of some of Mercadante’s pieces.
