Malvasia Wine Week in Sitges
to
Sitges malvasia is not just a wine; it's a story that spans centuries and disciplines. Poets, painters, sculptors and musicians have found in this sweet and unique grape variety a source of inspiration that has shaped the town's cultural character. From the verses of Trinitat Catasús to the luminist brushstrokes of Joaquim de Miró and the sculptures of grape harvesters by Pere Jou, malvasia has been a symbol of identity, a connecting thread between the vineyard and the arts, between heritage and creativity. Today, this legacy lives on in the Sitges Malvasia Interpretation Center (CIM), a unique space located in the former Hospital de Sant Joan Baptista, an institution that has guarded and preserved the malvasia vines for decades. The CIM aims to be more than a static wine tourism space: it's a dynamic center where you can understand the roots of malvasia, its history, and its relationship with Sitges and Mediterranean culture.
In this spirit, it becomes the central stage for Malvasia Week 2025. Over 10 days this special Sitges wine will be paired with music, theater, gastronomy and the visual arts, reaffirming its essence as a Mediterranean and local symbol. Discovering the malvasia wines of Sitges is discovering the history of a people, the heartbeat of its culture, and the strength of a heritage that connects us with the past and propels us toward the future.
