The collaboration between the human voice and the lute has given rise to extraordinary works that transcend time. In this concert, the audience will have the opportunity to experience a remarkable repertoire performed by one of the great mezzo-sopranos of recent decades. Czech artist Magdalena Kožená, who, over the course of her career, has graced the stage in operas, concerts and recitals, together with lutist Azul Lima, will perform pieces from the 17th century, as well as the Sequenza for solo voice by the composer Luciano Berio (1925-2003). The program includes unique compositions such as Lagrime mie, by the Italian composer Barbara Strozzi, and the well-known “Lament de Dido,” Dido’s concluding aria from the opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell, which premiered in London in 1688.
