The season of concerts ‘Música als Parcs’ this summer offers 49 free classical and jazz concerts, performed by the Banda Municipal and three guest music groups in 27 spaces across the city.
The three guest groups are the Orquestra de Cambra del 'Centro de Enseñanza Musical de Barcelona', and two English bands: the Okehampton College Big Band (from Devon) and the Leicestershire Wind Orchestra & Big Band, from London.
Blauerduo, formed by a pianist and a cellist, are performing Schumann, Brahms and Manuel de Falla, among other composers, on July 2nd at Parc Central de Nou Barris and on July 4th at Jardins de la Tamarita. The Euphonic Bass Quartet is offering a concert based on classical music and the adaptation of 20th-century bands such as The Beatles and Queen, on July 9th at Jardins de la Primavera and July 10th at Turó Park.
The closing performance will be by the saxophonist Llibert Fortuny with Gary Willis on bass and Gergo Börlai on the drums. During the last part of the concert, the audience will have the chance to join in with a jam session. The rules for taking part in this will soon be announced on the web bcn.cat/habitaturba.
Entrance to all the concerts is free. The concerts of the Banda Municipal and the guest bands start at 8pm. The classical and jazz concerts start at 9pm, unless announced otherwise.
