Unstoppable, Marco Mezquida, a regular at the Festival de Jazz de Barcelona, returns with a new project alongside Portuguese fado singer LINA_, who says this about her collaboration with the Menorcan pianist: "Marco brought a great lightness to my music. The piano is a very complete instrument, with which I've always had a close relationship, but with Marco there's something different. It's as if the piano were an extension of his body. And the way he approaches it makes me float." Float, fly, two verbs that are not at all foreign to Mezquida's poetic style.
"It's a very organic and fluid repertoire," says the pianist, agreeing with LINA_, who guarantees that the place being built on this new album is exactly the one her voice wants to inhabit now. The result of their collaboration is, for now, the EP O Fado, a beautiful testament to the fact that, as the recording's promo says, "from these encounters something emerges that is greater than the sum of its parts, something that neither of them would be able to achieve alone."
