Lee Miller: Chronicles of War features 124 photographs that span the extraordinary career of Lee Miller. While it includes some of her iconic fashion photography, the main focus is her photo-journalistic work during World War II. As an accredited correspondent for the U.S. Army, Miller documented historic moments with a unique perspective: the aftermath of the D-Day, the Liberation of Paris, the liberated concentration camps of Buchenwald and Dachau, and the ruins of cities devastated across Europe. Her images, raw and poignant, capture humanity amid horror and have been pivotal in understanding the atrocities of war and their consequences.
Among the selected photographs, the exhibition includes iconic images depicted in the film Lee, starring Kate Winslet, set to release in Spain on March 7, 2025. Directed by Ellen Kuras, the film focuses on Miller's experience as a war correspondent, delving into the challenges she faced while documenting the horrors of conflict. Winslet's portrayal has been internationally acclaimed, highlighting her ability to embody Miller's complex personality, a woman ahead of her time. The connection between the exhibition and the film provides audiences with a unique opportunity to explore both the history and the cultural impact of this iconic figure.
