La Père de Nafi is set in a small town in northern Senegal where two brothers are at odds with each other. Tierno, an imam by trade, a friendly and moderate traditionalist, does not share the ideas of his ambitious older brother, Ousmane, who wants to become mayor of the village with the help of a radical and dangerous emir. Their children, Nafi (Tierno’s daughter) and Tokara (Ousmane’s son) love each other and plan to marry.
At first, the brothers' dispute seems to focus only on the happiness of their children, but gradually it becomes clear that they are but pawns in a deeper discord that touches on issues such as tradition, progress and the true nature of Islam. Will their family ties help them overcome these ideological differences?
This film will be shown in its original version with Spanish subtitles.
