Keep the Lights On, Ira Sachs (USA, 2012)
In New York City, two men embark on an intense relationship, marked by addictions and insecurities. The story follows an almost decade-long relationship defined by highs, lows and dysfunctional patterns, examining how contrasting emotions and personal struggles shape the bond between two people striving to forge a sincere connection. Keep the Lights On offers an intimate and deeply personal portrayal of love, passion and the inner turmoil masked by addiction, presented with a stripped-down and realistic perspective. Harrowing and romantic, visceral and layered, the film powerfully captures the profound impact of addiction on personal relationships and looks at love and all of its manifestations, taking it to dark depths and bringing it back to a place of grace.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Catalan.
A film in the 2025 edition the Americana Film Festival.
