The MASiMAS Festival 2026 presents Julianna Galperin’s Rising Stars, a project that clearly embodies the artistic and educational spirit of the Global Music Foundation (GMF). This concert brings together young musicians from the new generation of jazz in a setting where tradition, learning and stage experience coexist organically, offering a direct glimpse into the present and future of the genre.
A Ukrainian tenor saxophonist, Galperin arrived in London in 2023 and was accepted into the prestigious Purcell School for Young Musicians, one of the leading institutions dedicated to training young performers. In just two years, she has developed an intense artistic career, performing at festivals, concert halls and clubs across London, sharing the stage with established figures of the British and international jazz scenes. Her musical language is rooted in classic jazz and expands into blues and Detroit soul, shaped by a personal voice distinguished by expressive maturity.
In this project, Galperin leads an ensemble formed by scholarship students from the GMF Barcelona Jazz Workshop 2026, together with pianist Matyas Gayer, performing a repertoire that combines original compositions with timeless jazz standards. The concert is conceived as a space for collective dialogue, where tradition is transmitted through live performance, attentive listening, and interaction among musicians.
