The girl from the south is everywhere now. Five years after releasing her first songs, Judeline has confirmed her status as a new star of Spanish-language pop with Bodhiria, her debut album. This status also transcends borders. At the same time, the Cádiz-born artist’s international profile has continued to grow through collaborations with Tainy and Duki and fifteen concerts across Europe as a guest artist on J Balvin’s spring 2024 tour. It is an ascent she has carefully shaped step by step.
From the favela funk rhythm of “Canijo” to the Mozarabic ornamentation of “INRI,” passing through “zarcillos de plata,” which vividly recalls Hope Sandoval, and “chica de cristal,” where echoes of Jeanette can almost be heard, her career maintains a rare balance. It respects tradition while challenging it. Judeline naturally follows the paths of southern Spanish folklore but, through songs rich in detail, she also forges new routes whenever she feels compelled to do so.
