From New Orleans, Joe Lastie, drummer of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for 35 years and who has worked with Irma Thomas, Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint and The Blind Boys Of Alabama, together with banjo player and vocalist Carlos Childe, present their new album Nola by Spain.
This record pays tribute to the traditional music of New Orleans through the collaboration of both musicians, united by the same language—jazz—and born after a joint tour carried out last year. It's an opportunity to enjoy the rhythms of the city where jazz was born. Recorded in New Orleans in October 2024 with other local musicians, the album is being presented on this tour in collaboration with the Preservation Hall Foundation and the Department of Culture of the City of New Orleans, as part of the “Embrace The Culture” program.
“When Lastie sits at the drums, the enthusiasm grows, as do the humor, the swing and the fullness of sound.” — The New York Times
