Music is like the air we breathe: it permeates our pores, we absorb it almost by osmosis, and it's hard not to be deeply affected if you've been around it since you were very young. And if you're the son of Ry Cooder and were taught to play drums at the age of five under the influence of Jim Keltner, then the effect is even more pronounced.
American percussionist, composer and keyboardist Joachim Herbert Coode comes from a musical family background. Ever since he forged his chops playing along with the Buena Vista Social Club (which his father supervised), as well as in many other projects, he has known how to use his family ties to his advantage by building an an impeccable discography since 2012.
The last of his three solo albums is the delightful Dreamer's Motel (2024), and the record is as exquisite as its cover art, from beginning to end.
