Hannah, a filmmaker, travels to Amsterdam with her husband, Harry, and their nonbinary teenage son, Frances. Reunited with Jim, her father, who is gay, politically engaged, HIV-positive, and affectionately nicknamed Jimpa, she hopes to talk about his plans to tell his story on the big screen. However, when Jimpa’s health begins to deteriorate, Hannah and her sister must talk about the future, while she confronts her past and the stories she’s been told about her family.

Inspired by Hyde’s own relationship with her late gay father and his nonbinary teenage son—and starring award-winning actors Olivia Colman and John Lithgow—this film grew out of the conversations (and debates) the filmmaker imagined they might have had about queer identity. Rich in emotion, humor, and joy, Jimpa is a celebration of LGBTIQ+ culture and the chosen family. It offers a subtle reflection on how social expectations and the concept of family have evolved over generations.

Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Catalan and Spanish.
