James Brandon Lewis Trio is a contemporary jazz ensemble led by American saxophonist James Brandon Lewis, renowned for his ability to integrate influences from classical jazz, free jazz and funk into a deeply personal sound. With a career spanning more than two decades, Lewis has collaborated with notable figures such as William Hooker, Nasheet Waits and Tyshawn Sorey, and his music is characterized by its emotional, innovative and richly expressive force.
His trio, composed of Lewis on saxophone, bassist William Hooker and drummer Charles Waters, explores new frontiers in improvised jazz, creating a musical alliance that stands out for its cohesion and ability to move between intensity and more contemplative lyrics. The trio's sound fuses blues, spontaneity and avant-garde, while maintaining a deep sense of soul and musical freedom. Their music is intense, with powerful rhythmic energy and a great capacity for communication between band members.
With several successful albums and a consolidated presence on international stages, the James Brandon Lewis Trio is one of the most interesting formations on the current jazz scene, taking its audience through unexplored and intensely emotional soundscapes.
