Irreversible Entanglements is a band that fuses jazz and black music with a revolutionary and provocative vision. Originally from Philadelphia, New York and Washington DC, their music transcends the boundaries of traditional genres to bring a forceful social critique that claims the cultural legacy of the black community. With powerful lyrics and rhythms that oscillate between free jazz and avant-garde, the group offers a sound experience that stirs consciences and invites reflection.
The group is formed by five musicians of great recognition and trajectory in the experimental music scene. Camae Ayewa, artistically known as Moor Mother, is a poet and Afrofuturist activist who brings an intense political message to her interpretations. Luke Stewart, a bassist of unmistakable intensity, adds a deep foundation that drags the listener towards the rebellion of her compositions. Keir Neuringer, a saxophonist with a strongly political tone and avant-garde technique, challenges jazz conventions with powerful and dynamic solos. The group is completed by Aquiles Navarro (trumpet) and Tcheser Holmes (drums), an explosive duo that combines jazz, Latin and Afro-Caribbean influences, bringing a rhythmic energy that propels their music to new dimensions.
After the success of their debut album Irreversible Entanglements (2017), the band consolidated their position with Who Sent You? (2020) and Open the Gates (2021). These works, co-released by the International Anthem and Don Giovanni labels, have demonstrated the group's ability to innovate and challenge musical conventions, becoming a reference in the avant-garde jazz scene.
