Saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins brings to El Molino Blues Blood, his third studio album, a work that combines personal memory with collective history. Inspired by his childhood in Philadelphia and his connection to his ancestors, Wilkins explores nostalgia, family heirlooms, and the transformative power of music.
Co-produced by Meshell Ndegeocello and featuring collaborations from big names like Cécile McLorin Salvant, Ganavya, and June McDoom, this album represents an intimate and immersive experience. Each piece evokes everyday and profound moments, such as preparing family recipes or remembering loved ones who are no longer with us.
With sounds that flow like water, Blues Blood incorporates vocal elements for the first time in Wilkins’ career, creating a sonic space that feels like a vibrant community. From hypnotic rhythms to serene melodies, the concert promises an experience that connects you with the past, the present and the invisible ties that unite us.
